Your policies can break up Nigeria, Afenifere tells Osinbajo
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has asked the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to make policies that would not instigate the country’s break-up following a statement by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, that break-up is not the solution to Nigeria’s problem.
Shiite group suspends protests, drags FG to court over proscription
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, otherwise known as the Shiite group, on Wednesday announced the suspension of its street protests. It said the protests being used to call for the release of its detained leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky; his wife and others, was suspended to give room for “some new openings” into the resolution of the matter.
WAEC official disowns Buhari’s Cambridge credentials
A West African Examination Council official, Osidehinde Adewunmi, on Wednesday, disowned the Cambridge University’s Moderated International Examination credentials produced by President Muhammadu Buhari and tendered as exhibits before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
The two documents earlier admitted as Exhibits 19 and 21 were Buhari’s statement of results and the broadsheet for the results of the 18 candidates who sat for the examinations in 1961.
One dies, five shops razed in Gombe tanker fire
One person has been declared dead, while at least five lockup shops have been razed in the early Wednesday morning fuel tanker fire on Gombe-Bauchi highway. The fuel tanker went up in flames in Tumfure village, along the Gombe-Bauchi highway, killing a motorcycle operator.
Bandits release foreign doctor, 250 others in Zamfara
Bandits have released a Korean medical doctor, who had been in captivity for seven months. The doctor had been working at the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State when he was abducted. Also released were 250 people, who are from different parts of the state as well as neighbouring states.
